Women Of 2015

2015 has been a revolutionary year for women, in general. I feel like it was a year when our voices were really heard and a new generation of empowering, confident females took over. This year, women have shown what a force to be reckoned with they can be when they stick together and have spoken out against injustices, causing changes to be made.

2015 was the year of women being confident in themselves and not caring who knows it. It was the year of women joining forces to become the ultimate 'squad goals' and it was the year of women becoming more successful than ever before, earning millions all by themselves and being given opportunities that they could only ever dream of.

Let us meet the women who, in my opinion, have had one of their best ever years and took the world by storm in 2015.

CARA DELEVINGNE
She left her modelling agency and starred in blockbuster 'Papertowns,' taking the lead female role, and still has more acting jobs to come. Cara became an LGBTQ+ icon by becoming more open about her own sexuality and also became more open to discussing her battle with mental illness. Additionally, Cara designed collections for Mulberry and raised over £18,000 for WILDCRU by auctioning off her personal TAG Heuer watch.

JOURDAN DUNN
She may have been quieter on the catwalk this year, but that hasn't stopped Jourdan Dunn from bagging the 'Model of the Year' award at the BFAs for the second time and Glamour's 'Inspiration Award' at 'Women of the Year.' Jourdan also featured on her first solo British Vogue cover and was chosen to model for some of the biggest campaigns, including Balmain X HM, Tommy Hilfiger and became a Maybelline ambassador. Despite all that, she still had time to pose for Burberry alongside Naomi Campbell!

JENNIFER LAWRENCE
2015 saw JLaw become the world's highest paid actress, earning $52 million. We waved goodbye to Katniss Everdeen but that didn't stop Jennifer Lawrence from featuring in Dior beauty campaigns or taking on other, big Hollywood roles. She also took this year as a chance to speak out about the gender pay gap and women's rights.

GIGI HADID
I don't think anybody can argue with the fact that 2015 has been the year of Gig Hadid. She began the year with a Tom Ford campaign and ended it as the current Vogue cover girl. Gigi has dominated the fashion industry and is fast becoming THE sought after model. She made her Victoria's Secret Fashion Show debut and starred in various music videos. Plus, Gigi took 2015 as the chance to call out her haters by simultaneously spreading a message of body positivity. She has made many new friends and I can see 2016 being even bigger for her!

TAYLOR SWIFT
Just when we thought she couldn't top 2014, Taylor continued to slay throughout the entirety of 2015. Her 1989 World Tour was named the highest grossing tour of 2015, on which she accompanied by musical legends and famous faces, including Justin Timberlake and Mick Jagger. Taylor also took the term 'squad goals' to a whole new level via her 'Bad Blood' music video and performance in Hyde Park and showed the world just how powerful women can be when they stick together. Furthermore, she used this year to speak out against Apple and hasn't shied away from defeneding her music and lyrics. Finally, Taylor ends the year in a happy relationship and now has the chance to put her feet up after firmly securing her place at the top of the list of the world's most influential artists.

LITTLE MIX
You mean BIG MIX, right!? Their highly anticipated third studio album 'Get Weird' charted at number 2 and its first single 'Black Magic' took over, it even stayed at number 1 for three weeks! The girls are still adding extra dates to their 2016 arena tour, after selling out many venues already. This year, the girls even launched their own fragrance 'Gold Magic,' co-wrote a single for Britney Spears in the form of 'Pretty Girls,' won 'Breakout Artist' at the Teen Choice Awards and grew their fanbase as girls all over the world have become determined to see them succeed.

KENDALL JENNER
Kendall Jenner has certainly made her mark this year. January was a sense of foreshadowing for her success as, in that month alone, she featured of the Indonesian Marie Claire cover, landed her first solo feature in a Marc Jacobs campaign, featured in a Karl Largerfeld campaign and a Chanel show for Paris Fashion Week. She became the new face of Calvin Klein jeans, debuted at number 2 on FHM's 100 Sexist Women in the World list and introduced 'Restless,' a limited edition lipstick shade for Estee Lauder. As well as appearing in countless campaigns, Kendall walked in this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show alongside some of the biggest names in the modelling industry right now. Kendal's fanbase is showing no signs of plummeting and I can't wait to see what the New Year holds for her!

SELENA GOMEZ

2015 was the year of Selena's revival, both in herself and her music, Her second solo album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and her new music just seems like a whole new sound which she is really comfortable with. Selena also performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, had film roles and became the face of Pantene. I think it is also clear that Selena is now extremely body confident, which is shown in her latest video 'Hands To Myself' and has become a very strong, independent woman who only wishes to surround herself with people who bring out the best in her. She has certainly been all about girl power and supporting her girlfriends in 2015!

ZOELLA

YouTube sensation Zoe Sugg's 2015 has been what millions of girls dream of! She released the sequel to her debut novel, titled 'Girl Online: On Tour,' released a second range of beauty products, had her own waxwork made for Madame Tussards, starred in a Comic Relief special of 'The Great British Bake Off' and won 'Choice Web Star' at the Teen Choice Awards. She also moved into a dream house and her YouTube channel subscribers have continued to skyrocket, as she nears 10 million. Her beauty and fashion tips have helped millions, as has her anxiety and mental health advice. I believe Zoella has been influential in helping the voices of those online get heard.

Who were your women of 2015? <3

Love, Emily :) xx
