Look For The Good In Every Day

I am a firm believer in the saying "Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day." We all have days which aren't particularly perfect. We all have days which make us cry. We all have days where we feel like nothing is going right. Don't worry, you aren't alone. Sometimes, it can be the little things which make us feel as though we've had a terrible day. Perhaps you had to wake up early, maybe it rained, or your parcel didn't arrive on time, but, instead of looking for the little negative things at the end of each day to help you decide whether it was a 'good' or a 'bad' one, look for the little positives.

At the end of each day, something I enjoy doing is taking time out to simply be on my own and mentally reflect on the past twelve hours. During this time, I look back on the day and consider everything positive that has happened. This is something I would highly recommend to anyone as it will help you to see that your day really hasn't been as terrible as you think. It is always beneficial to take a moment out of your busy life to appreciate the good, however, just try to do it at the end of every day from now on. Ignore the things that went wrong and look for the things that went right. There will always be something!
Whilst you are going about your day, in the middle of the afternoon perhaps, it may feel like the worst day of your life. Everyone has been there, but your day has never been as bad as you think. Also, most of the time it can be the smallest of things which end up making your day amazing. So, rather than wallowing in self pity every evening, really think about what you did that day and tell yourself it was actually very productive. For example, even if you just shaved your legs, maybe you posted a letter, booked a doctor's appointment, finally caught up on your favourite TV series, washed your hair, or maybe more significant things happened. You may have donated money to charity, sat an exam, started a new job, whatever it was, big or small, a positive is a positive and all of those little, or large, things will have contributed towards a great day. At the time, they may seem like nothing, trivial, but, whilst reflecting upon the day just gone, recognise them as achievements almost. It will help you to train your mind to see the positives as oppose to the negatives.

Also, if you are really struggling to pick out the good things from your day, turn the negatives around. For example, if it rained just think "Hey at least it wasn't stormy." If your eyeliner didn't look great, think "Yeah, but at least my contour was on point." If you caught a cold, think "But at least I didn't get anything worse." I promise you that there is always something good in every day, even if it wasn't the best day in the world. It is impossible for there to be nothing worth smiling about every day and, if you start realising this, life will be a lot more peaceful.

So, my mission for you is to start looking for the good things at the end of each day. Just take a minute or two to reminisce and realise that hey, the day wasn't so bad after all and you have actually achieved something, it wasn't the wasted day that you thought it was! Nobody wants to be a Negative Nancy so, start being a Positive Penelope and, that way, you can go to bed each night with a happy mindset and wake up the following morning knowing that there is going to be something which happens within the next twelve hours which will have a positive impact on your life.

All of that being said, tell me something good which happened to you today or something productive that you did! <3

Love, Emily :) xx
