If you've been anywhere near social media over the last few months, you'll probably be aware of the fact that Tommy Hilfiger have collaborated with Gigi Hadid for their Autumn/Winter collection. Like seriously, everyone has been talking about it.
Gigi Hadid has well and truly shot up the model hierarchy during 2016 to become the golden girl all brands want to work with and every magazine seems to want her on their covers. She's living the high life, to put it mildly. After walking the Victoria's Secret Catwalk, you'd think things couldn't get much better, but designing a collection with one of her favourite brands could possibly be the cherry on top of the cake.
#TOMMYXGIGI was showcased as part of New York Fashion Week in a fun-fair themed extravaganza on Tommy Pier, which was also filled with rides cocktail bars and slot machines. Gigi certainly likes to push the boat out, right?
Actually, speaking of boats, moving onto the collection itself, some of the pieces had a definite nautical theme passing through them, with their brass buttons, chunky knits, navy coats and anchor embroidery. Although, the collection still maintained an edgy vibe to appeal to younger audiences as it featured tracksuits, hoodies and skinny jeans. Hilfiger himself chose to describe the collection as "nautical meets street."
He also said the collection was "inspired by Gigi Hadid" and was "designed to be worn as you like it," which can be in many ways. The models on the runway themselves had mixed and matched items from the collection, wearing hoodies with military-style jackets and neckerchiefs with sneakers.
The designers also ensured everyone would know you were rocking a Tommy x Gigi collaboration piece from a mile off by adding 'Tommy x Gigi' patches to the oversized sweaters and the TH logo the tracksuits.

The evening was an utter success and it was as if people couldn't stop singing Miss Hadid's praises afterwards. Her model pal Martha Hunt and songwriting royalty Taylor Swift attended hand in hand and sat side by side on the front row, cheering Gigi along all the way through. They also had a cheeky dance to the track Taylor wrote, 'This Is What You Came For' as it opened the show and posted videos on social media to express their pride and excitement. Don't you just love it when gal pals support each other like they do?

The runway itself was walked by some of the 'it' girls of the moment, such as Hailey Baldwin, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Josephine Skriver, Taylor Hill and, of course, Gi herself. All of the models did a superb job of showing off Gigi's months' worth of hard work and looked beautiful in each piece.
